We’re Going On a Lion Hunt Book Activities

Looking for some fun with a book? Explore these playful Going on a Lion Hunt book activities for your child.

We just got back from a month long stay with my parents in MN. The kids had a blast fishing, swimming, camping, kayaking, and spending time with family members. Not being with your own toys and in your own home can be rough with 3 kids for an entire month, so when Kim offered to host another round of our LOVE Books Exchange, I was delighted.

We’re Going On a Lion Hunt Book Activities

We’re Going on a Lion Hunt by Margery Cuyler

In fact, Karyn at Teach Beside Me and her family delivered our package right to Grandma and Grandpas house!!! The kids were ecstatic to get mail in MN and even more excited when they opened the package and all these amazing goodies started spilling out all related to the book, “We’re Going On a Lion Hunt”

My son was SO excited for the animal cookies and my daughter immediately grabbed the clay.

The box was stuffed with so many fun things – from art and math projects to the kids own binoculars, little domino games and MUCH more!

When we needed an activity to do while on vacation – I just went to the box and grabbed one. It was GREAT!

One afternoon, the kids and I were creating and spelling all over the living room floor for over an hour and I sent a thank you telepathically to Karyn for choosing such open-ended learning activities that my 6 year old and 3 year old could both do.

If you are thinking about taking a vacation – I would strongly recommend making your own LOVE book package for the kids to open up a little bit each day! (or just begging Karyn to make you one!)

The clay stayed out for almost 2 weeks and the kids would go to the station and create animals and more. The binoculars were a hit too and we took them outside to look for the “lion.”

My kids were EXTREMELY excited to participate in this round of LOVE Books activity swap.

Although part of the fun is receiving a package, I think it is even more fun to create one for another family! We are a very outdoorsy and active family and tried to choose book and activities to match our interests to send to another family.

I let the kids choose the theme and help pick out books that we thought would match the interests and ages of the kids we were sending the package too.

That looks like such a fun box of activities. It sounds like your children had a great time with all of the goodies and were able to create some activities of their own too.
I also read the post at Teach Beside Me about what you sent. That was a great package too that they clearly enjoyed! Thank you so much for hosting. We had a great time joining in.
