Join the fun by attending your Party for the Planet at your local zoo! Here’s how our favorite zoo hosted their event, you could set up at your home too with friends.

Happy Earth Day! How will you Party for the Planet today? We had the opportunity to visit our local zoo for a Party for the Planet. It was such fun to explore the zoo with our children.

Of course, even more fun since it was both of our families together on an adventure!

Party for the Planet

The purpose of a Party for the Planet event for kids is to teach them about the importance of protecting the environment and to have fun doing it. The event features activities such as recycling games, nature walks, and arts and crafts projects. Kids learn about the different ways they can help the environment, such as reducing, reusing, and recycling. It’s a great way for kids to learn about the environment and have fun at the same time.

Here are some of the activities that kids can do at the Party for the Planet event:

• Recycle games: Kids can play games that teach them about recycling and how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
• Nature walks: Kids can go on nature walks to learn about the plants and animals in their area.
• Arts and crafts projects: Kids can make arts and crafts projects that are environmentally friendly.
• Learn about the environment: Kids can learn about the different ways they can help the environment.
• Have fun: Kids can have fun at the Party for the Planet event while learning about the environment.

Here’s how the Party for the Planet Event went last year at our zoo.

Stations for Party for the Planet

The zoo set up stations throughout the zoo to visit. For each station, they got a stamp for the Planet Passport.

The stations focused on a variety of topics from endangered animals to identifying foods for each animal.

A few stations were craft stations like clothespin butterflies and a mouse bookmark. They had a variety of information for the participants to take home including some cards that were for each animal, very similar to baseball cards.  

A few stations were even hands-on learning with animals. Check out this snake!

Follow Up Activities at  Home for Earth Day

As we finished I wanted to make sure that the message they were teaching our children carried through at home. We brought home materials about the animals and colored the papers. Then I encouraged my oldest daughter who’s 6 to do a little research about them and write about the specific topics they shared. This is an easy way to make connections at home to what you’re sharing with your child.
