Cream Cheese Sprinkle Cookies Recipe

A fun and easy recipe for using sprinkles with cookies for an instant hit with the kids! Here’s how to make these delicious cream cheese sprinkle cookies with your child.

I’m always looking for fun ways to get the kids involved in the kitchen, cookies are a great go-to. Since these use a limited about of ingredients they are usually sitting in my cupboard and fridge to brighten up a day.

You can change them up based on the season and the theme of the day. We selected spring colored sprinkles to add to our Easter fun this year.

We called these colorful cookies our Easter Sprinkle Cookies!

If you don’t have the Larger Sprinkles Rainbow you could try our Roll Sugar Cookies Recipe with smaller sprinkles.

Cream Cheese Sprinkle Cookies

Head to the cupboard with the kids to grab these ingredients for your sprinkle cookies. The cream cheese is the secret to this delicious recipe, so be sure you have a package on hand.

For the ingredients, you’ll need to get ready cream cheese, butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sprinkles or sanding sugar

Are you ready to make these Cream Cheese Sprinkle Sugar Cookies?

Directions for Cream Cheese Sprinkle Cookies

To get started in a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together with an electric mixer until well blended.

This is the perfect time to have your little one help you by measuring the ingredients and help mix them with the mixer.

We use a kids step stool so that they are high enough to the counter to help safely. This is the one we used as our daughter got older.

Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract; beat on medium speed for 1 minute.

In a seperate medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.

Add half of the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix well. Add the remaining half of the flour mixture and stir until completely incorporated.

Cover the dough in the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour.

While the dough is chilling, preheat the oven to 350F.

Prepare two cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Scoop the chilled cookie dough onto the cookie sheet to form 1 ½ inch balls. The kids love using this cookie scooper!

Roll the balls in sprinkles or sanding sugar, then return to the cookie sheet, placed at least 1 inch apart.

Flatten the cookies slightly with your fingers or the flat bottom of a cup.

Even when baking with kids, it’s important to keep the cookie balls the same shape for even baking, this recipe should make 30-36 cookies.

TIP: Select sprinkles that taste good. I realized that one package of the sprinkles I used had a weird taste and it did impact the flavor of the cookies I used those sprinkles on.

Colorful sanding sugar would be a great alternative for those who don’t like the flavor or texture of the regular sprinkles.

Bake the cookies at 350F for 9-10 minutes until set.

Cool the cookies for 2 minutes on the cookie sheet, then transfer to a wire cooling rack.

Serve the cookies slightly warm or at room temperature. Store these Sprinkle Crusted Sugar Cookies in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
