We'll I'm not a mommy, but I have a class full of delightful 5-9 year old's who love reading! Our current favorites are Spring themed texts and anything with a silly twist or rhyme! Many still struggle with middle sounds in words and reading through to gain all the sounds in a word rather than guessing based on the first letter only! My question, as a parent, what is the most effective ways for a teacher to communicate ways to help their child? A list of suggestions, game applications, a tip a week?

I read to my son every single night and he loves it. He's 17 months old and now takes books and sits and reads to me. So cute!

I'm not on G+ so I did not watch the hangouts….my son Loves cars and trains so any books about those are great fun…also books that I make neat sound effects with….he'll keep asking for more of those as well…..It took a long time for my guy to get interested in books, it seemed like I was reading to the walls as he ran around for ever!! but now he'll come sit in my lap and listen, point to pictures and if a book we've read several times he'll "read" the parts he remembers….He knows all of his letters and sounds but I'm clueless about where to start to teach him to read…it would be extra awesome if I won the 'I can teach my child to read' book 🙂
