Making a simple sachet – Tot School 25 Months

Learn how to start sewing with toddlers by making a simple sachet! This fun Tot School activity builds fine motor skills and introduces young children to beginner sewing techniques.

Simple Rosemary Sachet Tutorial for Toddlers

This week we have decorated for the holidays and begun our season of sewing. Although my toddler is not really interested in craft projects, he LOVES sewing.

This week we made rosemary sachets for our drawers.

He picked the rosemary from our Edible Sensory Herb Garden.

I prepared circles like this out of old scraps of Christmas fabric.

My tot (2) helped thread the ribbon in a pattern (up and down, up and down) through the holes.

He then ripped the rosemary off the branches and put it in the middle.

I tied it all up and he ran around sniffing his sachet all morning!

We put it in his closet so his clothes smell yummy.

You could do this with lavendar too! If you end up doing this you will also enjoy our Lavendar Playdough Activity we recently did.

We’ve also used this sachet concept to build a fun busy bag for my kids. Here’s a step by step on how to build early reader Christmas busy bag.

Another fun activity idea to go with your senses if this Peppermint Playdough.

Thanks for linking up at Feed Me Books Friday! Love the basket under the tree for ornaments – just may have to steal that idea! My boys (5 and 2) got to help decorate with a select group of ornaments – it's actually the subject of this week's post! I'm a total book-aholic too. I have a big tote box of Christmas books that I pulled out of the closet and the boys each get to choose one each at naptime and one each at bedtime, which gets us through them pretty smoothly.
