Activity:
“For our package I sent the book: The Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrel by Thornton Burgess (One of our family’s favorite series of books). I included a couple of simple activities related to squirrels. There were instructions for making a squirrel out of origami, Some Squirrel paper dolls, how to draw a squirrel, How to make a squirrel out of leaves, and a little squirrel game to make out of an egg carton.
I know we were only supposed to include 1, but we had fun putting it together and they were all so simple, that I just included a few!”

Activity:
Enter the world of magical dragons with the book, Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville. Jeremy unexpectedly finds himself to be the caretaker of a dragon egg and he must be diligent in order for the baby dragon inside to hatch! To go with this fun and adventurous story, we decided to have our exchange partners hatch their very own dragon egg!
Using a few simple ingredients, they create an egg made of soap with a surprise in the middle!

Book: Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osborn
Activity: The book we picked was ”Dinosaurs Before Dark”, by Mary Pope Osborn, the first book in one of our favorite chapter series … Magic Tree House! We included some paper bookmarks and miniature dinosaur toys in our package. I thought of a three different activities that go along with the book for them to choose.
The first activity is to make Dinosaur bookmarks … and then place the bookmarks in other books that they own featuring places they would like to travel (just like Jack and Annie find in the Magic Treehouse).
The second activity is to take the toy dinosaurs outside and re-create different scenes (or new ones) with them.
The third activity was to make their own DINO MATCHING GAME using the bookmarks, toy dinosaurs, and information from the book.

Book How To Train Your Dragon: How to Betray a Dragon’s Hero by Cressida Cowell
Activity: My daughter has been reading series “How to Train Your Dragon.” She likes making up stories about the main character Hiccup and the dragons. To encourage her imagination and creative thinking, I thought it would be a great to have her start a dragon figuring collection.
I included the dragon and the book in a cute bag.
