Baby Friendly Hotel Fun

Travel Tips with Babies for Baby Friendly Hotel Fun from The Educators' Spin On It

I thought it might be fun to share with you some tricks of the trade that I’ve learned over the years as a mother of 3.  I need to remind myself every once in a while that I need to make plans for what to do with my baby so I thought blogging about it might help both you and me become active parents with our actively learning babies.

This past week we were on vacation which can be challenging enough on your own but with a baby you have to get a little creative in hotel rooms.  Whenever you’re booking a hotel room be sure to ask for the crib, even if you’re little one doesn’t sleep in it you can always use it for a playpen with their toys instead of the germy hotel floor when you need an extra hand.
Strollers and car seats are free to bring on most airplanes too!  You can drop it off at the gate and pick it up the moment you get off the plan.  It’s nice to have  a place other than your arms to put your little one while you’re waiting.  It worked out great for a high chair in a pinch, with a tray I knew was clean.
My little one kept me very busy since she’s an expert crawler and pulling up on everything.  We had limited space to bring toys for her so we had to be creative.  Big sister was very interested in collecting brochures about the places we were visiting and also ones that we weren’t so it made a great opportunity for my baby to play with the brochure just like big sister.  This kept her very busy.
(Use Cautions with babies with paper, always use supervised by an adult.)

We also like to play cards on our vacation to fill the time and while big sister was playing Uno little sister needed something too.  We found a coupon booklet that easily tore apart and my little one stood up at the sofa and played with them.  She pushed them all around, picked them up and knocked them down.  She loved it!

Another quick thing we did was to play with the hotel plastic cups.  We sat and try to stack them.  We put her smaller linking toys instead so she could dump them out.
One morning we also sat with the newspaper and played with it.  It’s the simple things.  She loved rubbing her legs on it to make the crinkle sound, kind of like when she’s at the doctors office.   She also sat and tore the paper which is great for fine motors skills.  (Caution!!! Stay close by so little pieces don’t end up in their mouth)

These are All FREE things you can grab from your hotel.  Hope your able to use these on your next trip of even at home.

Bonus Tip: Here’s the Sign for Airplane from Signing Time to help prepare for your trip!
