Resources for Summer Reading

How can I keep my kids reading this summer?

  • Follow the Love Books Summer Reading Book Exchange

We are so excited our book exchange that has just begun this summer.  Follow along as 20 bloggers share their experiences with their favorites books and activities.  You can create them at home with your child too and keep reading all summer long!  Here’s a sample of what we received and sent plus a peek here and here of our partipants who have shared!  We encourage you to share your experiences on our LOVE BOOKS page or on our facebook page!

  • Participate in Readathon 2012!

This program will begin on June 18th. If you register with MemeTales, for six weeks, you will get to borrow online copies of books and earn stickers for participating. As an added bonus, a meal will be donated to a hungry child for every child that participates. We are excited that The Educators’ Spin on It will be a blog leader for Readathon 2012. So register and then follow The Educators’ Spin On It for fun ideas on how to bring those books to life!

Even if you don’t blog, we would love to have you follow along by reading some books by the selected author! June features Mo Willems, July features Audrey Wood and August features Kevin Henkes.  The Educators’ Spin On It will be a co-host along with 15+ bloggers, so be sure to check here each month to see what awesome activities everyone has come up with.

  • Read and Win: Summer Reading Challenge with No Time for Flashcards

This challenge is super easy. All you have to do is register with No Time for Flashcards and send in your form of how many books you have read each week, and you could win a $50 Amazon gift card!
